About this tool

AAAA records are the IPv6 equivalent of A records. This lookup shows the IPv6 addresses a hostname publishes, which is step one when enabling IPv6 for a website or when debugging why some users see timeouts (a stale AAAA record pointing to a dead address is a classic cause).

Follow up with the IPv6 Ping Test to verify reachability and with the DNS Propagation Checker after a change.

This is what a result looks like (trimmed):

$ dig one.one.one.one AAAA +short

2606:4700:4700::1111
2606:4700:4700::1001

Key features of this tool

  • Live answer

    The query is sent to a public resolver from our servers, so you see the records the world sees, not a cached copy from your ISP.

  • Parsed and raw

    Records are listed in a clean table and the full dig output is available below it, with an option to copy all to clipboard.

  • TTL included

    Each record shows its time-to-live (TTL), so you know how long DNS caches may keep the old value before refreshing it.

Frequently asked questions

No AAAA record found

The hostname is IPv4-only. Clients with IPv6 will simply use IPv4; nothing is broken, but the site is not reachable over the newer protocol.

Should www and the bare domain both have AAAA records?

Yes, if you want consistent IPv6 support; they are separate names and are often configured separately.

How do I test that the IPv6 address actually works?

Enter the IPv6 address in the IPv6 Ping Test to check reachability, or run an IPv6 traceroute to see the network path and locate connection issues.

How many websites currently support IPv6?

There's no exact global count, but 2026 measurements show around 37% of the top 100,000 web hosts are fully reachable over IPv6.
