Grayscale Image
Turn PNG, JPEG and WebP images into black and white with proper luminance weighting, in your browser, then download them one by one or as a .zip.

About this tool
The Grayscale Image converter desaturates photos and graphics in your browser using the Rec. 709 luminance formula, the same weighting used by video and image standards, so skin tones and skies keep their relative brightness instead of turning flat. Transparency is preserved for PNG and WebP, and you can process a batch of 25 images and download them individually or as a .zip.
Shrink the results with the Image Compressor.
How to use it — quick steps
- 01
Add the images
Drop PNG, JPEG or WebP files on the dashed area or choose them from your device, up to 25 at once.
- 02
Press "Convert to grayscale"
Each pixel is converted with the Rec. 709 luminance formula, so greys match perceived brightness.
- 03
Download the results
Every row shows the new size; save the images one by one or all together as a .zip archive.
Key features of this tool
Perceptual greys
Uses the Rec. 709 luminance weights (21% red, 72% green, 7% blue) instead of a plain average, for natural-looking results.
Files never leave your device
Reading, compressing and rewriting happen in your browser with the File API; nothing is uploaded to IPVoid.
Batch friendly
Up to 25 files at once, each row has its own download link and the whole batch can be saved as a .zip archive.
Frequently asked questions
Which format is the output?
The same as the input: PNG stays PNG (transparency kept), JPEG is re-encoded at quality 92, WebP stays WebP where the browser supports encoding it, otherwise PNG.
Does the file get smaller?
Often a little, since grey images compress better, but the goal is the conversion, not the size. Use the Image Compressor afterwards if you need smaller files.
Is EXIF kept?
No, the image is re-encoded from pixels, so metadata is dropped.
Are my files or data uploaded?
No. The tool is plain JavaScript that runs in your browser; the files or data you provide here are never uploaded to our servers.
