About this tool
Sometimes you just need to capture a quick voice note, a sample for a bug report or a line for a podcast without installing anything. The Online Voice Recorder uses the browser's MediaRecorder API to record from your microphone, shows the elapsed time while recording, and gives you a player and a download link when you stop. Everything happens on your device.
Need the file as Base64 for an API? Try Base64 to MP3 in reverse with your own tooling, or convert the download with any audio converter.

Listen to the result in the player, or download the audio file (WebM/Opus, or M4A on Safari).

Frequently asked questions
Which format is the recording?
The browser decides: Chrome, Firefox and Edge produce WebM with Opus audio, Safari produces M4A (AAC). Both play in modern players and can be converted with any audio tool.
The microphone does not start
Recording needs HTTPS and your permission. Check the address bar for a blocked microphone icon, and make sure no other app holds the microphone.
Is there a maximum length?
No fixed limit; the recording is kept in memory, so very long sessions depend on the free memory of your device.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. It stays in your browser until you download it or leave the page.
