IPv6 Ping Test
Send ICMPv6 echo requests to an IPv6 address or a hostname with an AAAA record and verify that it is reachable over IPv6.

About this tool
This is the IPv6 twin of the Ping tool: it runs ping -6 from our dual-stack servers and forces the IPv6 stack, so a hostname is resolved through its AAAA record only. It is the fastest way to confirm that a newly configured IPv6 address answers from the internet and that firewalls allow ICMPv6, which IPv6 relies on far more than IPv4 does.
Combine it with the AAAA IPv6 Lookup to verify DNS and with Traceroute (IPv6 mode) to inspect the path.
This is what a result looks like (trimmed):

Key features of this tool
External lookups
The lookup runs from our infrastructure, so you see what the public internet sees without exposing your own IP address or network.
Fast and cached
Results come back in seconds; identical lookups are cached for a few minutes to keep the service fast and responsive for everyone.
Easy to reuse
Every result block can be copied with one click or downloaded as a text file, and tables can also be saved as CSV for your reports.
Frequently asked questions
Why would I test IPv6 separately?
A host can be perfectly reachable over IPv4 and broken over IPv6 (missing route, firewall rule, wrong AAAA record). Clients with IPv6 then suffer timeouts before falling back. This test isolates the IPv6 path.
"Name or service not known" for a hostname
The hostname has no AAAA record, so there is nothing to ping over IPv6. Check the AAAA records with the AAAA IPv6 Lookup tool.
Does my own connection need IPv6?
No. The test is executed from our dual-stack servers, so you can verify IPv6 reachability even from an IPv4-only network.
