About this tool

The QR Code Generator builds the payload for the most common uses, URL, Wi-Fi, vCard, email, phone, WhatsApp, location and text, encodes it with the MIT-licensed qrcode-generator library in your browser and renders it on a canvas, so you get a crisp PNG at the size you choose and a scalable SVG. The encoded content is shown next to the code so you can double-check it before printing.

Test the result with the QR Code Scan.

How to use it — quick steps

  1. 01

    Choose the type

Pick what the code should open: a URL, Wi-Fi network, vCard, email, phone, WhatsApp, location or text.

  2. 02

    Fill in the fields

Enter the details for that type, then set the size, error-correction level and colours if you want.

  3. 03

    Press "Generate QR code"

The code appears below with its encoded content; download it as PNG or SVG, or copy the content.

Key features of this tool

  • Eight payload types

URL, plain text, Wi-Fi (WPA/WEP/open, hidden networks), vCard 3.0 contact, mailto with subject and body, tel, WhatsApp click-to-chat and Google Maps location.

  • PNG and SVG

Raster PNG from 256 to 2048 px for screens and print, plus an SVG that scales to any size without loss.

  • Generated locally

Encoding runs in your browser with an open-source library; Wi-Fi passwords and contact details are never sent to us.

Frequently asked questions

Which error-correction level should I use?

M (15%) is a good default. Use H (30%) if the code will be printed small, placed on a curved surface or partly covered by a logo; L gives the smallest code for long content.

Does the Wi-Fi code work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, both camera apps recognise the WIFI: format and offer to join the network; the password is stored in the code, so share it only with people who should have it.

How much text fits in a QR code?

Up to about 2,900 bytes at level L, less at higher levels; keep content short so the code stays easy to scan.

Can I add a logo?

Not in this tool; export the PNG and overlay a logo covering less than 20% of the area, using level H.

Are my files or data uploaded?

No. The tool is plain JavaScript that runs in your browser; the files or data you provide here are never uploaded to our servers.
