About this tool
Voice memos recorded too far from the microphone, a podcast guest who speaks softly, a song mastered quieter than the rest: Audio Volume Boost applies a precise gain in decibels to WAV, MP3 and M4A files in your browser, with a limiter that stops boosted peaks from clipping, and returns MP3 or WAV with a player per file. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use it — quick steps
- 01
Add the audio files
Drop WAV, MP3 or M4A files on the dashed area or choose them, up to 25 files of 50 MB each per run.
- 02
Set the change in dB
Positive values make the audio louder (+6 dB is about twice as loud), negative values quieter.
- 03
Press "Change volume"
The gain is applied in your browser with a limiter on by default; play and download each result.
Key features of this tool
Decibel precision
Adjust from -40 to +40 dB in half-dB steps instead of a vague percentage slider.
No distortion
A fast limiter catches peaks that would exceed full scale, so boosted audio stays clean.
MP3 or WAV output
MP3 at 128-320 kbps (encoded with LAME in the browser) or lossless WAV.
Frequently asked questions
How many dB should I add?
+3 dB is noticeably louder, +6 dB about twice as loud, +10 dB very loud. Start with +6 and listen; the limiter keeps peaks from clipping.
Why does a quiet recording still sound thin?
Gain raises everything equally, including noise; for speech recorded too quietly, +10 to +15 dB with the limiter on usually works.
Can I lower the volume too?
Yes, enter a negative value such as -6.
Are my files or data uploaded?
No. The tool is plain JavaScript that runs in your browser; the files or data you provide here are never uploaded to our servers.
