About this tool
A lecture recording, a concert video, a voice message sent as a video: sometimes only the sound matters. The Audio Extractor runs FFmpeg in your browser to decode the audio track of a video and encode it to MP3 at the bitrate you choose, with a player and a download, and without uploading the file anywhere.

- 03
Press "Extract audio"
FFmpeg decodes the audio track and encodes it to MP3 in your browser; play it and download it.
Key features of this tool
MP3 at the bitrate you choose
Constant bitrate from 128 to 320 kbps, encoded with LAME inside FFmpeg.
Any common video
MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV and AVI with AAC, Opus, Vorbis, MP3 or AC-3 audio tracks.
FFmpeg in your browser
The real FFmpeg, compiled to WebAssembly and loaded on first use (about 30 MB, then cached); the video is processed locally and never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep the original audio without re-encoding?
Not here: the output is always MP3 so it plays everywhere. For lossless extraction you would copy the AAC or Opus track with a desktop FFmpeg.
Why is the first use slow?
FFmpeg (about 30 MB) is downloaded the first time and cached; after that it starts in a second or two.
The video has no sound
Then there is nothing to extract and FFmpeg reports an error; check the preview player first.
Are my files or data uploaded?
No. The tool is plain JavaScript that runs in your browser; the files or data you provide here are never uploaded to our servers.
